Windows Drive Not Ready



When using Microsoft Windows, you may encounter the error message: "Drive Not Ready - Exception Processing Message c000000a3."  Drive Not Ready is a hardware error message indicating the floppy drive on the computer is experiencing one or more of the following issues:

In BIOS, the floppy drive is enabled when a floppy drive is not actually present.  If a floppy drive is removed from a computer, the floppy drive should be disabled in BIOS.
 The floppy drive is bad and requires replacement.
The floppy drive is not properly connected to the motherboard.
To resolve this issue, please take the appropriate course of action listed above.

If you do not wish to use the floppy drive, the normal course of action is to disable the floppy drive in BIOS.  To temporarily resolve this issue, you can perform the following steps which disables the floppy drive in Device Manager:
 Click Start - Control Panel - System.
Click the Hardware Tab.
Click Device Manager.
Expand the Floppy Disk Controller.
Right-mouse click Standard Floppy Disk Controller and select Disable.
When prompted, click Yes to restart the computer.
This issue has been resolved.
